Born and raised in the Capitol District of upstate New York, Rick Sheremeta, has been a resident and business owner in Palm Beach County for over 22 years.
Rick holds engineering degrees from both Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a partner in the Delray Beach Civil Engineering, Land Surveying & Planning firm of Heller-Weaver and Sheremeta, Inc.
His zest for life and love of the outdoors draws him frequently to explore and photograph the diverse wildlife and rugged majesty of the western Rocky Mountain regions of Colorado, Montana and Wyoming as well as the Adirondack forests of eastern New York State. When he is not off on one of his photographic expeditions, he can be found exploring the native wetlands, of South Florida, in search of the perfect image. Among his favorite local haunts are the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge; J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area; Everglades National Park and the Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
Rick’s photographic objective is not merely to take pictures of animals and landscape scenes but to express his perception of the very essence of the natural world. The moods of nature, like time itself, are constantly moving forward and undergoing change. It is through his manipulation of light and composition that he is able to seize these fleeting impressions within his unique images.
Although essentially self-taught, Rick’s photographic skills have been keenly honed through his extensive study at the world-renowned Palm Beach Photographic Center. He has authored several articles on outdoor photography that have been published in Outdoor Photographer and Shutterbug magazines.
