Lori Brackett
I grew up in Ammon, a suburb of Idaho Falls, Idaho. I consciously knew I wanted to be an artist since the tender age of five so my education was pursued in that direction. While in junior high and high school, I took several art classes. Post high school I continued this pursuit at both Ricks College and then Idaho State University, where I earned my Associates Degree and Bachelor's Degree of Fine Art in Fine Art cum laude respectively. My life is invested in my 123's and my ABC's. I have 1 husband, Douglas; 2 sons, D.J. and James; and 3 cats, Gladius, Elmo, and Pilum. To take up the rest of my time I have my Art, my Belief and my Chores. In my art I enjoy an array of different media and subject matter. Now, that I am pausing in my artistic education and concentratinging on a family, the media I generally work in are pastel, acrylic and oil. As far as subject matter I portray what I feel is uplifting, such as animals and people. The opportunity to express myself in a big way in murals, such as Byington View, has been quite pleasing. Recently, I have added to my artistic range of experiences by branching out into decorative painting. The opportunities in these new experiences have been personally gratifying. I thoroughly enjoy expressing myself through my art and too, when others are able to truly feel when viewing it. Some of my art has had the opportunity to have been appreciated by wider audiences. "James-a-Cat" was an award winner at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. "The Attack" was published in Prehistoric Times, a magazine which has subscribers around the globe. Additionally, but not shown here, I was one of the two artists who executed the murals for the visitor's center at Massacre Rocks State Park in Central Idaho. If you would like to contact me about my art, I would love to hear from you. You can do so by writing me at:
