At the age of 21 I joined the AKI, the academy of fine arts in Enschede. A first orientation year lead me to discover that the possibilities of audio and visual media provided me with a daring challenge.
During the following years in the media-art department I examined different aspects of audio and visual media which resulted in several video works. A video installation led to my graduation in 1997.
As a child I sometimes stayed over at my grandmothers house. There was a large drawing on the bedroom wall which consisted of numerous tiny pictures in one. Whenever I had almost convinced myself that I could not find anything in the image which I had not already seen before the opposite happened. My eyes would stop to look where they had always glanced before. Seeing something new always thrilled me.
I have always been intrigued by the extensive world of the imaginative where everything I see is what I choose to see. Throughout the years this inner most private world has provided me with a safe place in which I could create worlds and scenarios in many variances and always experience something new. It is through my art that I now try to make this world come alive.
