The following is a compilation of the family histories of individuals who settled in the Floyd County, Kentuky area. They come mostly from N. Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. I have gleaned this information from the U.S. Census for the years 1790-1880, focussing mostly on Floyd, Johnson, and Pike Counties. I also gathered data from marriage, birth, and death records from this area. Over the last five years I have received a great deal of information from descendants offering additions, and corrections. I began my research in 1976, and have run across many usefull collections such as the Hall Family Book, which was created by various descendants of Mosias and Unisiah Hall. Other information came from family members living near Prestonburg, Kentucky, who have access to original Floyd County records. I don't claim to be an expert, and nothing you find here is chiseled in granite. I only hope that through my efforts, and those of other dedicated researchers, we can come up with a family history that will be a legacy to our posterity. Good Luck in your quest, |
