Society's Dictate
Man by nature is a hunter, A conqueror, And master of all
he surveys. Like the lion of the jungle, A royal king, A born leader
in all his ways.
Society in all its wisdom Decries him so, No
weakness, nor tears allowed He must be strong, and courageous Until the
end, Only in strength can he be proud.
We dictate he must be those
things, And mold him so, Then we watch him die under stress. We
complain that he isn't gentle, It's a wonder After he's placed in such
duress
Man has a heart full of kindness Like anyone A sweet
softness down in his soul Societies' dictates changed him Not for the
best The dictate has taken its toll
