(CAMBRIDGE, Ontario) Born in a windmill as the youngest of 11 children, Johanna Vos became a humanitarian at an early age. She served as a nurse in Holland during World War II, contributed to the Underground Rescue system during Nazi occupation, opened the first medical clinic in the jungle of Suriname and co-founded the Sunbeam Home, one of Canada's first hospitals for disabled children.

Her granddaughter, Karen Vos Braun, was at her "Oma's" bedside when she died, and was motivated by the gift of experiencing the transition between life and death and was thus inspired to write a book in tribute to her grandmother's accomplished life. In "The Wisdom of Oma" (ISBN: 1-894439-07-4, Creative Bound, $12.95), Braun weaves the wisdom passed down to her from her grandmother, Johanna, with inspirational quotes and challenging life questions.

In "The Wisdom of Oma", Braun recounts the extraordinary life of Johanna Vos and includes 23 of Oma's heartwarming gifts of advice such as "Always live your life with the intention of helping others" and "You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their hands." Through Oma's wisdom, Braun hopes to encourage readers to recognize their own unique gifts in order to find truth and freedom.

Braun currently resides in the Toronto area where she teaches and performs as a musician. She recently completed her Masters of Education at the University of Toronto and primarily researches global perspectives in education as a movement towards peace.

"Drawing you into an inspiring journey of truth, "The Wisdom of Oma" promises to awaken your heart and enliven your soul. Weaving a tapestry of unforgettable moments shared between two kindred spirits, Braun challenges you to remain open to love, joy, and courage." - Robin Sharma, author of "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari"
