If Man Is Five is the talented female dominated Punk/Metal band from Upstate New York. They have been spreading thier experimental punk/metal gloom around the East Coast for the past two years. If Man Is Five blends hard hitting riffs with powerful singing. Combining classical styles of singing and guitar with punk and metal riffs is what makes If Man Is Five one of the most intresting indie bands out here today.

Chicago suburb native Liz Berg has been performing steadily since the release of her Not the Same CD in the summer of 2003. She has recently joined forces with S.O.SSave Our Schools Music Foundation and helped to raise thousands of dollars to bring back band programs in her local school district. She also teamed up with national recording act The Ides of March to help restoration efforts for local high school J. Sterling Mortonwhich boasts actor Joe Mantegna, the Ides of March, and Berg as alumni. Bergs CD has been acclaimed for thought-provoking lyrics and has allowed Berg the opportunity to stand out amongst female peers by playing virtually all of the instruments on the album herself. In addition to garnering local interest, the Not the Same CD is now being heard in 5 other countries.

If Man Is Five found their start in Binghamton, New York when the two founding members, Brianna and Angela, met in the summer of 1997 and were later reunited at college in the Spring of 2002. They soon decided to start making music together that summer and shortly thereafter, Evan joined in on the drums, who also brought his own musical vision to the band. Later Daley joined the band with her five string bass completing the sound. All of their diverse musical backgrounds and classical training form an eclectic style of music, ranging from punk to metal, and classical to hardcore. Their hard-hitting guitar riffs, flowing melodies and poetic lyrics with Angelas powerful voice, come together creating an interestingly diverse musical act.

In the past year If Man Is Five has steadily played the Northeast U.S. and Canada, playing at least four to six gigs a month. In June of 2004 If Man Is Five were one of the few bands to be chosen to play the North by Northeast Festival, out of the thousands of applicants who applied for the few slots available. If Man Is Five has opened for well-known acts such as Prong, Burnt By The Sun, and Gotham Road.

Their debut album, Azraela, received rave reviews from a variety of sources, being named best album of the summer of 2003 by regional music magazine 315. With highlights such as Twilight Zone, and the title track, Azraela, this band demonstrates their music ability and power in the metal melding pot. Being participants of Garageband.com, If Man Is Five had two songs score very highly in their different categories, rising above the other 50,000 members of the site. Desolate, ranked as high as #7 and Six Years Later made it all the way up to the #2 position in the punk category. There is little doubt that this band can only move upward, by bringing originality and raw talent to the forefront.

If Man Is Fives highly anticipated second album, Blood is the Ink Hate is the Story, will be released in November of 2004.

Angela and Brianna met at a punk show, then later again in college as music students. They desided they wanted to play music together and formed a band. That band later developed into If Man Is Five, with Evan joining first then Sara. Together the form their creative style that is melodic and enraged all at the same time. With the success of such female fronted bands as No Doubt and Evanesence, If Man Is blowing up fast and gathering fans at an incredible rate. If Man Is Five's music is original and has something instore for every kind of music fan, be it alternative, metal, punk, or hardcore.
