Liz Berg announces new band line-up in support of Not the Same,."

Liz Berg welcomed gifted drummer Rick Vitek to her band on July 2, 2004 with a main stage performance at Riversides Party in the Park. Vitek, a veteran of the Chicago music scene, is best known as the drummer in actor Gary Sinises Lieutenant Dan band which does shows to benefit operation iraqi children and to provide entertainment for U.S. troops. Vitek also has numerous session work credentialsincluding work on Polyscope Recording Artist Dave Uhrichs CD. Viteks vast experience brings a more solid, eclectic texture to Bergs already dynamic bandwhich includes another seasoned veteran, John Kozlick on bass.

Chicago suburb native Liz Berg has been performing steadily since the release of her Not the Same CD in the summer of 2003. She has recently joined forces with S.O.SSave Our Schools Music Foundation and helped to raise thousands of dollars to bring back band programs in her local school district. She also teamed up with national recording act The Ides of March to help restoration efforts for local high school J. Sterling Mortonwhich boasts actor Joe Mantegna, the Ides of March, and Berg as alumni. Bergs CD has been acclaimed for thought-provoking lyrics and has allowed Berg the opportunity to stand out amongst female peers by playing virtually all of the instruments on the album herself. In addition to garnering local interest, the Not the Same CD is now being heard in 5 other countries.

Since forming the Liz Berg Band in 1997, Liz Berg has performed hundreds of shows between Los Angeles and Chicago and has gained a reputation for being one of the most diverse and experienced young women on the music scene today. In July of 2003, Berg released her debut CD, Not the Same, which showcased Berg's versatility as a songwriter and a musician. Berg not only wrote and produced every song on the CD, but also played the majority of the instruments herself. Berg's lyrics can be described as "poetic" and thought-provoking" and stands out amongst her peers for her musicianship.

Berg incorporates rock, blues, and soul in her hard-hitting voice which is augmented by her band-- now including John Kozlick and Rick Vitek. The versatility of the band allows for many different textures and styles that go beyond typical rock-n-roll and that prove to be very crowd-pleasing. Throughout the years Berg has even evoked comparisons to a variety of singers such as Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, and Sarah McLachlan.
