The Tsar of Imperial Russia built an empire of such scope and opulence that even 75 years of Soviet communism could not fully extinguish it's glories.
Today, the world's facsination with the Tsars has been rekindled. And no one brings you closer to the heart of Russia's ancient glories than LEISURE VOYAGES.
We'll take you to fabulous gilded onion-dome cathedrals, opulent palaces, incredibly vast parks and squares, incomparable museums, quaint towns and hamlets...all enhanced by the comfort and convenience of the Viking Peterhof.
Numerous riverboats ply the fabled waterways between St. Petersburg and Moscow, but only our own Viking Peterhof, carrying just 190 guests, gives you the high western standards and peace of mind you expect from a superlative cruise ship.
Our warm and friendly Russian crew is trained and supervised by Swiss experts. All food is imported and your cuisine is prepared by European master chefs; you'll enjoy single-seating dining in our two dining rooms, which are served by two state-of-the-art galleys.
All of the ship's public areas are light, airy, tasteful, with subtle contemporary colors. All the state-rooms as well have been beautifully redesigned and redecorated with sleek new furnishings and amenities, plus telephone, personal air-conditioning controls, private toilet and shower, and a panoramic wimdow that opens for fresh air.
The Viking Peterhof also boasts a gracious cocktail lounge, panorama bar and dance floor, sauna, library, hairdresser, sun deck and gift shop.
In short the entire ship is in the best of taste, with the pleasing decor and appointments that really make a difference in your river tour experience. And let's face it, while your marveling at the treasures of the Tsars, wouldn't it be nice to feel just a little pampered yourself?
Ports of Call
St. Petersburg
The sumptuous architecture of the "Venice of the North" is a grand testament to the vision of it's founder, Peter the Great. You will tour the Peter-Paul Fortress, St. Isaacs Cathedral, the world-famous 1,050-room Hermitage and the elegantly restored Summer Palace.
Kizhi Island
The 22 onion-dome cupolas of the Transfiguration Church loom on the horizon as if from a fairy tale, and the church and the charming peasant village that surround it are like a looking glass into Russian life in the early 1700's.
Kostroma
Home to the noted Ipatyevsky Monestary and the outdoor Museum of Wooden Architecture, Kostroma is one of the loveliest of Russia's "Golden Ring" towns.
Yaroslavl
One of the oldest cities of North Central Russia. Visit the walled fortress which withstood attacks by the Tartars and the Mongols; the awesome 13th century Spassky Monestary; and the lovely Church of Elijah with it's glorious frescoes.
Uglich
Known for it's picturesque wooden houses and the blue cupolas of the Cathedral of the Resurrection, peasant families in Uglich today still live lives of pastoral simplicity.
Moscow
The capitol of Russia and it's largest city, Moscow is also the living mirror of the Russian soul. Red Square, the Armory Museum, St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Tomb, the towering Kremlin with it's golden domes, lustrous cathedrals and the endless crown treasures of the Tsars. Moscow is truly unforgettable.
