Domaine Jeanine Emanuel ________ one review
Domaine Jeanine Emanuel A.O.C. Mācon-Villages 1994 Planted with specially selected new varieties of Chardonnay grapes and possessing the quality of soil, orientation, altitude, drainage, and exposure needed to make great Burgundy, the vineyard is located in the Māconnais hills above the village of Milly-Lamartine.
Both modern and traditional techniques are employed to produce this exceptional Mācon-Villages. In the cool of the evening, the grapes are pressed within 8 to 40 minutes of picking, eliminating the need for SO2. After a long, cool fermentation in the state-of-the-art temperature controlled cellars, the wines are aged for one year in vats before being put into oak barrels in the second year. This vintage was bottled and offered for sale in the fourth year after the harvest.
Golden coloured with green reflections; a developed and elegant nose of fruits and wood; aromas of fruit preserves, quince, and a touch of honey; toasty nuances and definite complexity. Ample, round, full and nervous; good length with lingering tastes of preserved fruit, honey, toast and vanilla. Drinking well now but will further mature in the cellar into the next century.
